Welcome to the Ivonbrook and Darley Hall Care Homes – July Newsletter.

Staff Focus of the month

Here is our lovely Katie. She brings such fun and laughter into our homes.

Katie has been working as a carer since she was 18. Whilst enrolled as a student hairdresser, Katie used to work night shifts as a Carer.

When she completed her course, Katie secured herself a job as a hairdresser but missed the fulfilment and interaction from being a Carer.

By 2017 Katie was engaged and Mum to two young children. As if she wasn’t busy enough, Katie joined the Ivonbrook Properties team as a Night Carer once again.

She has been with us ever since and loves the residents as much as they love her.  She sees them as family who make her smile and help the day fly by.

Katie is a natural Carer, she is kind, funny and engaging.

Charlotte Wilson, Registered Manager at Derbyshire’s Ivonbrook Care Home, described her as “Absolutely wonderful, a strong member of our Senior team and  a credit to the Homes.”

Italian Day – Bellissimo!

We were blessed with good weather, great food and even better entertainment to raise the spirits in the Home during the Coronavirus pandemic.

With our activities schedules compromised and our external providers no longer able to visit, we’ve taken to exploring the talents on our in-house team.

The whole of Ivonbrook Care Home and Darley Hall Care Homes in Derbyshire were transformed into a Venetian paradise complete with Gondolas.

Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, we are no longer able to allow entertainment providers to visit our homes. Luckily for us, we’ve got an incredible team who possesses hidden talents and resourcefulness.

The video was posted from Darley Hall Care home in Darley Dale, Derbyshire.

Since being uploaded to Facebook, the moving video has been shared by over 25,000 Facebook users and received praise from numerous local Newspapers.

A duet performed between a care worker and a care home resident brought tears of joy to the faces of residents and staff.

Darley Hall Care Home Resident Shows Hidden Talent

Darley Hall Residential Care Home, based in Matlock, witnessed a moment to cherish when residents were treated to an emotional performance.

The duet of You’ll Never walk Alone – sung by Sarah Bright and Gordon Gregory “ was recorded and shared online in order to spread a positive message to people everywhere.

The video was viewed more than 1.600 times in two hours and then a further 14.500 views after 24 hours.

Care worker, Sarah Bright and care home resident, Gordon Gregory, perform you’ll never walk alone.

Manager of Darley Hall Care Home, Adam Hodgson, said: The lady singing in the video, Sarah Bright, has her own music therapy business, and she came in to help the carers any way she could.

In order to try and raise the spirits of the residents, shell arranges a sing-along in the afternoons as a morale booster for all residents and members of staff who have been working tirelessly through this period.

The staff have been phenomenal throughout, I couldn’t ask any more of them.

“The residents have also been incredible in the sense of being able to keep their own spirits up.

He added: When that video was recorded it was just a cherry on the cake type of moment.

These really are unprecedented times for everybody and some people are more understanding of the current situation than others.

We all really need to understand that we are in this together and appreciate the kind moments.

The gentleman in the video, Gordon Gregory, is such a kind, warm-hearted man and we hope he can bring happiness to others as he does to us on a daily basis. He possesses a brilliant, determined fighting spirit that is so fitting for the times we are living through.

I really hope the video can inspire people everywhere to keep their own spirits up.

On the care homes Facebook page Lisa Markham said: Absolutely amazing, God bless. Goosebumps and tears.

Irene Roberts added: This was beautiful that gentleman has a lovely voice. Sending hugs to all of you.
